Account question

I have Windows XP Pro and created two accounts: administrator with password
and user without password. The computer generates another two accounts:
Guest and ASP.NET Machine A... Firstly, what are those auto-generated
accounts for? Secondly, how can I logon the system without the logon dialog
box? Thirdly, why does the administrator account disppears in User Accounts
applet?

Thanks,

Scott

The ASP.NET account has nothing to do with Windows XP. It appears after
installing .NET Framework 1.1 and remains if the system is *not* fully
patched. "What is the ASP.NET Machine Account?"

Secondly, how can I logon the system without the logon dialog box?

"How to turn on automatic logon in Windows XP"

Note that the ASP.NET logon issue should be resolved first by installing
the SP1 for .NET Framework 1.1.
Thirdly, why does the administrator account disppears in User Accounts
applet?

Why should it appear and what do you plan to change. If you want to
edit the Administrator account: Start > Run: control userpasswords2

Deltev,

Many thanks for your useful information.

In my computer, I have an administrator account with password and a user
account (administrator right now)without password. I would like to change
the user account to limited account but the selection is greyed. What
should I do to change it?

Thanks,

Scott

You're certainly welcome.

Actually, you can't change it. There *have* to be two accounts at least
with administrative privileges. This makes sense in order to help out
in case of emergency (forgotten password, damaged profile etc.). There-
fore, you have to create another user account with administrative rights
first before you can modify the present user account. Another alternative
is to create a third (limited) account and leaving the existing accounts
as is.
