Why does the calender have a reminder of 18 hours no matter what?

I have the new Outlook and even though I've checked a default reminder of 15
minutes, every calendar entry has a reminder of 18 hours?? I know other uses
that have this issue also.

Events have reminders of 18 hours by default. Appointments use your
designated reminder of 15 minutes.

Thanks. I wonder if there is any way to change the default reminder
on events?

All reports indicate that the default Events reminder period is hard-coded
and can't be changed.

I've come to the same conclusion. It often makes you wonder why
"improvements" are hard coded and not offered as options?? Thanks for the
input.
