Why does Outlook degrade logos on email signatures?

I created a email signature in outlook, and when I send a message, the logo
picture file is degraded. I tried different file sizes ranging from a 1 meg
jpg to a 8 kb gif.

Any help would be appreciated.

I think I may have found a solution to this. Launch the Picture Tool Bar
located under the view menu, toolbars, picture. Click on the logo then click
the Compress image icon on the Picture Toolbar. Select 'no change' under
compression.
