Computer is a new Dell Precision 3400 with dual core Pentium and 2 GB RAM.
OS is manufacturer's load of XP with SP2 and all of the latest updates since
delivery last month.
Camera is a Nikon D300 shooting in 14-bit Raw mode. Sometimes -- and only
in some folders -- Windows Explorer barfs when asked to display thumbnails.
If it fails in a folder, it will fail everytime in that folder so there's
obviously something about the pictures in that folder that kills it. BUT
.... when I view the same folders from another (but older) WinXP over the
network with thumbnails, there's no problem and the images of the JPG in the
folder are displayed properly.
What possible incompatibility could exist between a folder of digital
pictures, about half .NEF and the other half .JPG and one WinXP computer but
not another?
TIA
