Folder for pictures and showing thumbnails

I have noticed the latest ver of XP or some of the latest updats cause
problems with picture folders and thumbnails.

Windows forget the settings for folders and how to show what it contain.

The order how to sort the files change from time to time.
The way to show like icons or thumbnail change.

A picture chosen for a folder is not shown becaus windows forgot what
picture it was.

The memory is messed up by file manager and any picture can be showed as a
folder picture or a thumbnail for a pic. Windows pick everything, last viewed
picture or an icon for a program or a pic from pages on line viewed on line
long time ago. Memory is really messed up but it dont affect other programs.
Only the memory used by file manager is messed up and it lead to a system
krash every 15 minutes.

This is very easy to recreate.If you have som pictures, copy them over and
over again untill you have a folder with a few 1000 real picture files (jpg).
I dont mean emty 0 kb jpg, I mean real pictures. Around 50 - 150kb.
Make a copy of this folder.
Dont use thumbnails and do anything you want in first folder and watch the
size of swap file. Erase all these files without problems.

For the other folder, use thumbnails and do the same.

I have more than 30 disks andI need more free space, I need to sort and
erase a lot, maybe 1000 GB.

If windows can show a thumbnail of the picit must realle be a thumbnail of
THAT PICTURE and not of something else.
Some times Windows cannot at all show thumbnails, only a emty frame.
The same can happen for normal icons, Windows shows just an emty frame
insted of an icon.

I have Nortons IS but mention this I will get reply like get rid of Nortons,
it always cause problems with Windows. If I say I use AVG, thats use less. I
also use Ad Aware and spybot and naturally they are useless too as Windows
alwaysis the perfect OS. It can never fail.

If you say my windows install is damaged,I have reinstalled it, same result.
But the only program that make damages to Windows install is Windows itself.
Its extremly self destructive.

Windows cant handle this. How to solve this or to find a program that can do
the job for Windows?

After reading your "diatribe" of Windows being self-destructive, I have
only one suggestion for you. Go to nearest Walden (or other) Book Store
and purchase a copy of "WindowsXP for Dummies", about $19.95
You'll be surprised, it will do wonders for you, and you may also learn
something.

There are folders on this system each containing multiple thousands of .jpg
files. No problem with the swap file or crashes when moving, copying,
deleting etc. Windows XP SP2, fully updates (well except for the latest
group, haven't gotten around to them yet).

I would never let Norton anything near my system. I use Avast for
anti-virus and a combination of non viral anti-malware apps including
Windows Defender, Ad-Aware SE Personal, SpyBot S&D, BHO Demon, and
SpywareBlaster. I don't understand you're comment that these programs are
useless as Windows is perfect. Unfortunately they are needed to deal with
malware.

Maybe you would be happier using a Linux distro, or getting a Mac.
