Why are test messages to myself disappearing as they arrive ?

I'm having problems sending messages (possibloy receiving them) and notice
that when I send test messages to myself they appear in the Inbox but only
fleetingly before they disappear somewhere but goodness knows where.
 
Outlook version?
Did you check your junk mail folder? Do you have a spam filter in place? Are
you filtering your view of the Inbox?

This must be one more BG issue. Just delete your account and add it again.
