Why are my fonts squished in Microsoft Graph?

I'm having a problem using the chart program in Powerpoint. When I create a
new chart or edit an existing chart I get the following problem. When I
double click the chart the chart program opens up fine, I select the axis of
the chart to change the font color and adjust the font size...after I change
the font and close the font window everything still looks good on the chart
until I close out and go back to my slide...then all the fonts look squished
and run together as if the kearning is way off. I've tried different font
sizes, turning off the autoscale, did the detect and repair option, even
uninstalled and reinstalled Office and I still have the problem. I can
actually double click an existing chart where the fonts look fine and once
the chart opens up in edit mode I can immediately close out and go back to my
slide and the fonts still get all squished together without me doing
anything. Anyone have any ideas?

Right-click the chart object on the slide and choose Format Chart Object
and, on the size tab, make sure you're set to 100% x 100%.

If you're using a wide-screen display, update your video drivers.

I've tried all of your suggestions but no luck...I am using a widescreen but my video drivers are up to date.

I've tried your suggestions but none of them work...I'm using a widescreen but all my video drivers are up to date...I've got an ATI MOBILITY RADEON X600

Sorry, I don't know what to tell you, then. You might want to double-check
with the mfg of your computer and make sure they don't have newer drivers.

As in "Downloaded and installed within the last month or less"?

Try setting the video resolution to a standard 4:3 proportion (1024x768 for
example) and see if that solves the problem.

If so, it probably means that the video drivers haven't been updated to solve
this problem.
