White band across clips

Sometimes when bringing in clips from an analogue cam corder a white band appears across the middle of the clip on the computer. This part of the clip therefore has to be edited out and cannot be used. Does anyone know how to overcome this.

Yes I get the same thing occasionally. Presume that your computer isn't fast enough to process the data.
