"Combine" is grayed out under "Clip" drop down menu

When I follow the directions for combining clips in MovieMaker, the "combine"
command is grayed out and cannot be used.

It worked before, but not now. I have clipped out a section of a video
before and combine the remaining pieces, but now it does not work.

Any suggestions.

the combine feature is kind of like an 'undo'.... you can only combine clips
previously cut at the exact same place

clipping a segment out would mean you can't combine the remaining parts

I checked, and I cannot recombine contiguous clips that were just split.

Also, in the past, I was able to cut out pieces and reconnect the
non-contiguous remaining pieces. Has MovieMaker changed?

Saving your project in a movie format...
..wmv or .avi...combines all the files into
one video clip.

The "Combine" option in the Movie Maker
program only works for undoing splits
where all the clips are in the same locations
as they were before the split.

It has always worked the same way.
