can't combine wmv clips

The help menu on combining clips says you hold the control key, select two
contiguous clips on the storyboard, click on "Clips" menu and select
"Combine" When I do that, the "Combine" menu selection is grayed out. Is
it not possible to combine two wmv clips in movie maker? I'm using Windows
Vista, Movie Maker version 6 build 6000, and the wmv clips were created
with this version of movie maker as well.

OOPS!! Never mind, I figured it out.

By the way, let's say you have a 40 minute clip and you want to split it up
into 4 separate 10 minute wmv files. Can movie maker do that automatically
or do you have to do it manually by chopping and saving the movie file 4
times?

Yep. I've got the same problem - grayed out "Combine" function. I'd love to
know how you got it to work? TIA

=============================
When you save your project as a movie file
(.wmv or .avi) all of the source files will be
combined into one single file.

As for the "Combine" option in Movie Maker...
that will only work if the clips were originally
a single file that was split either when imported
or with the Split option in Movie Maker.

To save as an .avi movie file...
(and several other options)
Type...Ctrl+P to open the Save Movie Wizard /
Choose...My Computer /
Next /
Enter a Name and a Save Location /
Next /
Show More Choices /
Other Settings /
Open the drop window and choose...DV-AVI /
Next /
Wait while the movie is saved /
Finish...

To save as a .wmv movie file...
Type...Ctrl+P to open the Save Movie Wizard /
Choose...My Computer /
Next /
Enter a Name and a Save Location /
Next /
Tick...'Best Quality For My Computer'
Next/
Wait while the movie is saved /
Finish...
