Although Windows defragmenter is OK, it's certainly not the best.
Several of the third-party choices are faster and more thorough.
I like Perfect Disk myself.
I agree. It's Free. And you only need to run it once in a blue moon or when
cows come home.
But bit twittling hoobies need something to do on a rainy day. So get 4 or 5
of them and make spreadssheet comparasions. You can lean how to use the
Excel add-on functions.
Can't argue with PerfectDisk6 because never used it, but after many years of
using Norton's Speed Disk, I finally went over to Diskeeper and didn't look
back. It's also worth a look through the trial period.
It has two big disadvantages: it requires at least 15% of the disk space
to be free in order to run at all, and it does nothing to consolidate
free space, so you are likely then to have newly created files
immediately fragmented
I also run Diskkeeper, and am very pleased with it.
