Problem with Diskeeper 9.0 and Win XP Pro + SP2

Nino

i just reinstalled my system and i have problem with Deskeeper 9.0 which
was working ok with SP1a or with Win XP Pro SP2 clean install.

here is the error:
"Diskeeper failed to connect to the service. The service may have stopped.
Please see the event log for more details"

I checked in services, and diskeeper service is started (and i restart it
again, to be sure), but problem remains.

Maybe someona have a solution ?

Which defragmenter is working fine with Win XP Pro + SP2 ?

thx

A: Windows XP's own defrag works fine. Why do you need another?

I have two big objections to the inbuilt one. First it requires that
there be 15% drive space, at least, free for it to work at all. And it
does not 'defrag free space' to make it contiguous. So new files are
likely to be created in fragments immediately

(I use Perfect Disk - www.raxco.com - which does not have these limits)

The problem may be your firewall. For some reason the service wants to
access the Internet. You'll also find that the Microsoft Management
Console (mmc.exe) does too. Unless I allow both of these to have
Internet access, I find that Diskeeper 9.0 won't run. This is new
behavior for this version, since 8.0 didn't do this.

One advantage of Diskeeper is that you can easily schedule it so that
it runs when you're not at your computer.
