Where are old msgs stored?

I had a crash of my Windows ME a few months ago that required me to
reinstall windows. When I did so, I found I was unable to locate, or
import, or in some other way, load whatever msgs I had in Outlook Express
before the crash back into Outlook Express.

Are those msgs still stored on my hard drive somewhere? There were
thousands of them, and I hate having lost them all . I did have a backup but
it was very old, and missing many. I did load those back into OE with no
problem. But what I really need are those msgs that were in Outlook express
Before the crash, and After the small backup I had done. Are they hidden
somewhere? Where'd they go??
