What would prevent viewing the complete text in a cell?

I am typing in a structured worksheet completed by another person.
The cell that I have pasted a text in does not display the complete text.
If you click on the cell the text is shown. I have explored the idea of
changing the format cells clicking on unwrapping text and merge cells,
but this has not solved the problem. Thanks!

Setting the cell's number format back to general might help, along with
resetting rowheight and column width.
Also, turn on wrap text.
Even then, Excel will not print/show over approx. 1000 characters.
