What does this mean "The search key was not found in any record".

I have looked in the help, but no information is given on search keys.
Everytime I try to enter a new record it will not save. I have not changed
any properties or the design and I don't understand why this message keeps
poping up. It seems the record that is lock up in has characters that its
not reconize. I also tried deleting record and reboot system, but the same
record comes back.
