The Search Key was not found in any Record.

I have what looks to me a 'corrupted' record in a table. The record has
chinese characters in some of the text fields and enormous (exponential)
values in some of the numeric fields. I try to delete it and get the
following message: "The search key was not found in any record." Any ideas
of how to remove this record? Any ideas of how this might have happened?
Also, I've already tried copying the table structure and making a new table,
then copying every record except the corrupt one into the new table. This
didn't work. The next time I opened the new table the corrupted record was
there.

Have you did a Compact & Repair?

Click on the menu TOOLS - Database Utilities - Compact and Repair Database.

Yes. However, when I run the Compact and Repair tool the entire app crashes
and creates a backup file. When I launch Access again and attempt to open
the backup file, I get an error "Non Database format."

Any ideas on how to rectify this situation?
