WFP Errors

Greetings Folks

I need help, I am getting errors in my system event log as followgs:

The protected system file xxxxxxxx.xxx could not be restored to its
original, valid version. The file version of the bad file is unknown
The specific error code is 0x800b0100 [No signature was present in the
subject.
].

AND

The system file c:\winnt\system32\dr3020.dll could not be copied into
the DLL cache. The specific error code is 0x800b0100 [No signature
was present in the subject.
]. This file is necessary to maintain system stability.

I've tried hard but unsucessfully to find the solution out on the web
either cause the answer is not out there or could not find it myself.

I need your help so please respond with the solution to this problem.

P.S. Running W2K SP4 with all patches etc.

Thanks

Thank you Steve for responding.

I have run sfc many times (sad to admit) and I did reinstall SP4 along
with the patches that windows update thinks needed to be reinstalled.

Still no luck however.

I'm wondering if there is some sort of database that wfp/sfc relies on
to determine the state of files. That it might be corrupt.

Thanks Again

Run System File Checker as in sfc /scannow on your computer which will probably ask
for the install disk. If that does not help, try reinstalling the Service Pack. ---
Steve

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;222471 --- if used on pre
SP4 it may replace files from installed hotfixes.

I checked two of my computers and could not find a dr3020.dll file nor find a
reference to it on the internet via Google which leaves me a bit suspicious about
that file and the fact that sfc did not fix it. If you have not done so already, do a
virus scan on your computer being sure to update your virus definitions first and
then run a parasite detection program such as the free AdAware, updating it's
definitions when it gives you the opportunity after you open it via "check for
updates now". Also clear your cookies and temporary internet files before you run
AdAaware. See if either a virus or parasite scan comes up with anything, particularly
referencing the files in question. Also configure AdAware to use "custom scan
options", select customize and enable all options for memory and registry before
scanning. --- Steve

dr3020.dll

Canon DR-3020 Device DLL

This file should only be in dllcache unless maybe you use it. In any case I suggest you make sure in Group Policy that you do not have "driver signing required." This is buggy in Windows 2000 and doesn't work well.
