WD 'Signature Update' could not be installed

Windows Defender hasn't given me any problems, except when this week started
on Sunday. I kept getting this error message that says "Product: Windows
Defender Signatures - Update 'Signature Update' could not be installed.
Error code 1603." That error is in the Event Viewer.
This error is when I go into WD and click on 'Check for Updates' because it
says that the definations haven't been updated in 15 days even though I
updated it yesterday. The error message is as follows right from the WD
taskbar icon, "WD was unable to complete the update: 0x80240022. The wrong
diskette is in the drive. Insert %2 (Volume Serial Number: %3) drive into
drive %1."

My ZoneAlarmPro firewall says that WD is trying to open up process
c:\windows\system32\msiexec.exe
The file name is c:\be24fc085ffcd81be2e5727eaad2a8\SigStub.exe
I keep hitting allow but it's just not installing.
What exactly does this error message mean or how do I fix it?

I downloaded the sig definition file.
"sfx_mpas-f_a4f37fb52596a7c26029939218dfedd736bbc4a4.exe"
from
http://au.download.windowsupdate.co..._a4f37fb52596a7c26029939218dfedd736bbc4a4.exe

When double clicked this file gives a message
"extracting file sig.stub.exe
to directory F:/~~~"

immediately another message box pops up saying :

"The application has failed to start because the application configuration
is incorrect. Reinstalling the application may fix this problem."

Uninstalled WD, reinstalled.
Removed sig key from registry.

Update failed to install. Definitions now version 1.0.0.0!
