When I try to update the signatures I get this error message:
"Windows Defender was unable to complete the update:
0x80240022. The wrong diskette is in the drive. Insert %2
(Volume Serial Number %3) into drive %1."
What does this mean? If it helps, I have just installed WIndows Defender.

It doesn't matter now, I found out how to update it.

Thanks for letting us know--I would like to hear if this continues on a
subsequent update--I'd thought they'd nailed a stake through this one.
