Andre,

Can you try this?

1) Uninstall WD thru Add and Remove Programs

2) Launch cmd prompt

3) MsiExec.exe /x {A5CC2A09-E9D3-49EC-923D-03874BBD4C2C}

4) Delete all contents of Directory of C:\Documents and Settings\All
Users\Application Data\Microsoft\Windows Defender\Definition Updates

5) Reinstall WD

Let me know if that works for you.

Same problem here with Windows 2000 with SP4.

I am behind a proxy server, but it did work with Beta1 Antispyware.

I'm also having the same problem, and also behind a proxy server. I suspect
that WD does not utilize the proxy settings to make the connection, thus it
cannot reach the update server. In the previous version, the proxy login will
prompt up whenever MS Antispyware is trying to update.

Is there any custom way to set the network connections

steve,
I have resolved it. I have read the log,and gotten the key.
COM+ event system was disabled,so the BITS can't run properly.

You can do this a little more simply:

do start, run

then cut and paste the command from (3) below, into that box, and hit enter.

That's an available, manual way to get updates. Did you also apply all
other offered high-priority updates?

Updates within the program go via AutoUpdate. Sometimes there's a
prerequisite which you might need to get via WindowsUpdate before the
automatic updates will work.
