Error Message 0x80240022

For some reason Windows Defender decided it would not download the latest
definition update and showed an Error Code "0x80240022".
I have been running Win. Def. with XPsp2 for 12 Months without any problems.

I have tried all the suggestions offered by Defender without any sucess.
I've uninstalled it, reinstalled the latest version and still no go.

Can somebody please help ?.

Hello Keith,

Let's see if manually downloading today's defininitions will fix the problem:

This is a direct download link and will initiate the transfer:
http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkID=85914&clcid=0x409

The file that is downloaded is mpas-fe.exe. Save it to your desktop and
double click on it when the download is complete.

I hope this post is helpful.

Let us know how it works ºut.

Thanks a lot Engel. Defender is back on line after many weeks of stuffing
around.
Next question, In the future will I have to manually update or would this be
a once only ?

Thanks Again
