W2K Fax

Im using the FAX that came with windows 2000. I don't understand how to
turn the monitoring off. I very seldom us it, but required it the other
day. Now I can't turn it off. I don't want to uninstall.... if possible.

Thanks in advance.

I think it is a Service. Try this:
Right mouse click on MyComputer>Manage.
Expand Service and Applications.
Select Service

The Fax Service should be listed so that you can set to Manual, Disable, or
Automatic (starts with windows).

Maybe somebody else in this newsgroup can verify or back me up on this.....
or not. Seems like a strange way to turn the W2K Fax on/off.

By monitoring i hope you mean the status monitor that pops up when you
send/receive a fax. To switch the status montior off do the following:-

1. Go to Control Panel->Faxes. Double click it will open a property page.
2. In the property page go to "status monitor" tab.

In that tab you will have options to diable/enable the status monitor.

Thanks,
