vpn dns resolution

M

Mr.Dustin

I'm stumped! I have 2 users using vpn from home. Both can
create a vpn connection. Both can ping the remote network
through the tunnel. Only one can ping the computer name.
They both have the same PPP settings for the VPN
connection. I know this is a resolution issue. I'm
thinking the one that can't ping with the computer name,
their local DNS is taking precedence over the DNS settings
of the VPN. I've searched on technet, haven't found
anything. HELP!

Classic VPN issue when it comes to DNS. Try a host file with the info you
need on their local machines. That usually helps.

You may need a DNS suffix on the other client that includes the remote domain's DNS domain name. Otherwise, dns will not
resolve any names since the client isn't appending the correct DNS suffix to queries.
