vpn connection problem

Sorry if it sounds stupid. I'm new in this.
on the connect box, it asks me for user name & password, is this for my
company's private network? if so, then what is it & where can I get this
information.

The username and password are for your account on the VPN server that you
are attempting to connect to. You would learn these credentials by asking
the administrators of that VPN server.
