Did you make sure your sound card is compatible with XP.

Try updating your sound card drivers for XP.

I recently upgraded from Windows 98 to Window XP since then, I can't get any
volume to my speakers. When I go into volume control it lets me turn them up
but as soon as I un-click the mouse it automaticaly goes back done to
nothing. I'm at a loss any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks

Enough with the drivers already! My computer does the same ,slide up volume
and watch it slide down on it's own when you let go of the mouse. All drivers
are in, the system was working fine, then next time I went to play HL2 I
could hardly hear it. Went through all trouble shooting with XP Trouble
shooter-it gave up! If you turn speaker volume (at Speakers) then try sliding
up the volume settings you get a loud gong before slider gets to zero volume.
Any Ideas? Anyone?

Tks. for your time: Seeker
