Volume Icon in Taskbar missing

I just uninstalled the old Realtek AC97 audio drivers, rebooted then
reinstalled them with new ones version 3.62. Now the volume icon in
the taskbar seems to be missing. I had a look in control panel
'Sounds and Audio Devices Properties' and saw that the checkbox was
checked already for 'Place volume icon in the taskbar', but still
doesn't show up.

Anyone know how do I restore that icon?

Try this...

Uncheck the box and click apply. then re-check the box and click apply.
then click "ok".
