Recently, I could no longer get any sound out of my system. Despite
re-installing my C-Media AC97 Audio Device, updating the drivers from both
MicroSoft and C-media, the system will not play any sound, CD, or music files.

In Sounds and Audio Devices Properties, the Volume screen claims no Audio
Device, the Audio and Voice screens everything is grayed out with no
recording or playback device showing. In the Hardware screen it lists the
c-media device and claims it is working properly. When I click on properties
- Audio devices C-Media WDM Audio Device si shown, but it's properties state
that "Status: Driver enabled but has not been started. The use audio
features on this device is checked.

In the BIOS, the audio device is enabled.

SO, WHAT IS WRONG?

I tried Kellies Korner fixes and they did not work either.

Please help!!!!!!!

Right-click "volume control" (speaker icon near clock) >open volume
control>properties and check ALL. Re-try for sound ie. music cd etc.
Good luck

Check in services that the Windows Audio service is set to automatic and
started. Go to Start | Run | Services.msc | OK
