Vol control in systray

The only way I can find to get the vol control into systray is to go into
control panel>sounds untick the box for vol control in systray then apply
then re tick, then apply and it comes up in the sys tray. However the next
time I boot up I have to do the same thing again. Is there a way of keeping
it there?

Have you been using a registry "cleaning" bit of software perhaps?

Go here:

http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm

line 320, left side. See if that tweak helps.

And when you're done do NOT automatically allow a registry cleaner to do
anything. Instead go ahead and review each and every listing for the
potentially cleaned items.

For some entertainment/education see here:

"Why I Don't Use Registry Cleaners":

On the other hand I do use a registry cleaner but only after having
established a trust with a company and many years of use and ensuring that
there are backups made that are accessible from outside of the Operating
System with proper tools.

I don't recall what Kelly's tweak does but it's sure to work... I'm 99% sure
it will at any rate. If not then take a gander here:

http://www.jsifaq.com/subK/tip5200/rh5245.htm

After that's been done go ahead and turn off and back on the icon from the
control panel applet and you should be good to go.

That seems to have sorted it - many thanks.

Any suggestions for a rag cleaner then?

Had been using PCOnPoint every few days. Usually comes up with 50-200 items.

Yes. Start > run > type 'regedit' without the quotes > hit enter... <g>

http://www.iolo.com

System Mechanic Professional will do the trick AND will get you Kaspersky
Anti-Virus and Kaspersky Anti-Hacker. Note that I'm by no means affiliated
with Iolo and just because I've used it successfully in the past doesn't
mean that the results that I have are 100% certain to be identical on your
system.

Have tried and that and get a message that the volume can't be found.
Had same problem.

There is some setting Administation tools that someone might remember.

And eventually clicking to put the icon on the task bar worked.
