Vista WinMail alternative

Have read the experts say OE is replaced by Windows mail and it is not
compatiable with most antivirus software.

They advise turning off email scanning, saving all attachments to desktops
then run scan that way.

Got to be a better way, or has MS gooffed again trying to exclude other
vendors from competing.

Now my question is, Is there an alternative email program that will run on
Vista and be compatiable with most antivirus software, ie, like Norton and
McAfee?

Why would anyone wish to use an antivirus product from a company
which has repeated proved that it needs several tries before it can
come out with a version that is fully compatible with the OS? Not to
mention the inability to have its uninstall work properly half the time,
to the point where they have to offer a special removal tool on their website?
There are plenty of antivirus companies that get it right on the first try, so
why not patronize them?

Email scanning provides absolutely no protection not included in the
anti-virus' normal resident scan.
Email scanning should be turned off in any anti-virus. Also exclude EML
files from the scan. It provides no
protection not provided by the regular resident protection.
Besides that, McAfee and Norton are not compatible with Windows Mail and
Outlook Express and should be uninstalled.

Talk bad about Norton and McAfee...why don't you just admit that Vista is
full of bugs instead of always trying to point the finger at other software.
I have noticed that is all you ever do. My God man are you so blind and loyal
to Microsoft that you can't admit that it (Vista) is the thing that is not
compatable with most everything there is!

Why can't Microsoft come out with an OS that isn't so full of bugs that
software that ran on XP will not run on Vista? Why have soo many people had
problems with Vista whether it be an upgrade or a factory installed version.
Xp was the same way when it first came out. Windows ME was a complete flop.
Why should EVERY software company in business have tool retool there software
just to run on the Golden god microsoft will work with the rest of the
industry? You guys that just keep defending microsoft are way off and out of
touch with reality.

NO ONE is defending.
People want to know how to get a program working.

To be honest Norton and MCAfee have troubles with MOST e-mail programs.

Winmail is not the best. Thunderbird, outlook and live mail work better.
But there are much less troublesome antivirus / cleansing programs on the
marke than Norton or Mc..
