Virus attack?

I recently got attacked by a trojan and although my anti-virus software got
rid of it, it has left me with a problem with Windows.
All the applications running of teh PC work fine (Office, Netscape etc) but
I can't access Windows functions such as My Documents, My Computer or even
Windows Explorer. Nor can I access Internet Explorer. When I click on these
options from teh Start menu or the Desktop, a window flashes open and then
closes and the desktop icons disappear for a few seconds.
Anybody got any ideas? It has been suggested that explorer.exe has become
corrupted but I have downloaded SP2 since the problem started and it has made
no difference.

Installing SP2 will not fix any problems that are already on your system
Run the system file checker for starters.
