All windows wont close; cant click on desktop icons...

hello:
All of a sudden, any window i open wont minimize, icons on desktop wont
open...white small boxes appear behind them when i click on them...
It works ok in safe mode though.
i installed system mechanic and got rid of excess clutter and any start up
problems werent detected.
Norton gets rid of any virus...
what can be the matter? i tried shutting down, of course and restarting a
lot...
Has any one heard of windows not minimizing before...what is it?

Uninstall system mechanic , and do a system restore to before you used
system mechanic .
