In outlook express, is it possible to have more than one
e-mail account up simultaneously? I have 5 e-mail
accounts set-up, and I need to be able to have at least
two of them open at once. So far, I haven't been able to
figure out a way to do this.
Yes. At least, if I understand your question. That's the reason I settled
on OE after several years of Netscape back in the '90s. With NS, I had to
hang up on MSN before I could check my mail from any of my local ISP
accounts. OE (was it version 4.0?) would let me create all the accounts (I
had accounts with 4 local ISPs back then.), then check them all with a
single phone call.
The part I'm not sure I understand is "two of them open at once". Now I'm
down to 3 accounts on my ADSL provider, plus MSN. In OE6, I have added all
4 of them. (Click Tools | Accounts... and provide the different servers,
User names, passwords, etc.) In the setup for each Account, I chose whether
to check that Account when receiving mail or synchronizing. In the main OE
window, I can click Send/Receive and choose from the context menu whether to
check them all, or just specific ones. I usually receive mail for all
accounts and read them in a single list.
But, I can't SEND from accounts on other than the one I'm connected to.
That's a limitation of each email provider, not of OE. MSN, for example,
will let me receive mail here, via my local ISP, but won't let me send mail
unless I dial in to the MSN modem (which I never do, because that's a toll
call). I can send from any of the accounts at my ADSL provider, but not
from MSN.
