Video tape from Camcorder onto computer.

I have a Canon ZR65mc and I do not know how to transfer the images on the
tape to the computer. I have the camcorder hooked up to the computer, but I
am frustrated because I have NO idea what to do to make my camcorder talk to
my computer and how to get the images from the tape saved onto my computer.

Are you connecting via firewire?

What kind of connection? If you are using RCA Composite connection (3
cables: video, audio L, audio R) then will need a video capture card, by
style of Adaptec Videoh! PCI 1980300.
Software: Nero build-in capture utility, MGI VideoWave 5, VirtualDub,
Windows Movie Maker, etc.

is this a digital camcorder? Is it connected to the PC via firewire?
