Very annoying scanner issue

Hi all,

I have a very small and very annoying issue for a particular user on the
network. I need to find the settings for the default scanner. Somehow this
was set in the user properties, and I cannot find where it is set.

The machine has two scanners. Any other user besides the current permanent
user can log into the machine and use both scanners from inside a database
program that we have. The main user of the computer cannot. For other
users, two scanners appear, and they may choose which one to use for
scanning. For the main user, the program simply defaults to the flat bed
scanner as opposed to giving the option for one or the other.

It is a Windows setting issue, as I can log into the database as the main
user but with a different Windows logon and the scanners appear. It seems
like it is simply defaulting to the flat bed scanner somehow. Both scanners
can still be used manually by all users. The only problem appears from the
database program, which is the main place for the scanner to be used.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If you create a new profile, does the new profile see both? If so, it
might be quicker to create a new profile, and transfer everything from
the other user over rather than trying to t-shoot the issue. Then after
verifying everything is good, rename the old profile folder to make sure
everything was moved. If everything still works, delete the old profile.

I haven't done that as of yet, and I still may. This was more for my own
edification rather than looking for a workaround. I occasionally run into
these little annoying issues in user settings, and it helps me to
troubleshoot other problems if I know how to go about it. Yes, I can create
another network account for the user... move the files and settings... delete
the user... etc. I may still do that, but it would be nice to know where the
setting could be fouling me up.

Thanks for your help.

Sometimes I spend so much time trying to figure out a problem, I forget
that there are other methods available to resolve it. And then all the
time wasted may only be so I could say, "I figured it out!", when it
would have been more productive to let it go, resolve it another way
(although not solving the problem directly) and move on.

Post back if you find it.
