Verizon DSL , Florida ( east coast ?), dynamic, not PPPoE, sucks.

Trying getting new hardware ie a router or a netwok card and try and get the
ip address to release. What should be an automatic thing
typically requires a two hour conversation with a Verizon tech, before they
tell you they can't release the ip and that the new piece of hardware you
just bought, you should take back and try and get another one.

Not sure if it's their old frame relay system only, or not. If you want to
upgrade to their newer system, they'll only let you if the old Fujitsu modem
you have with 2000 technology, goes bad. And that will require you being
without internet totally for a few days.

Verizon sucks!

How are you accessing the Verizon DSL feed? Are you using a DSL modem or
just your router? If is through the modem then there is usually a forced
reset button somewhere on the device, or you could just power cycle the
device. For what it is worth it appears that they will be soon blocking VPN
access through their network. I am working with a client at the moment that
is having issues with the Cisco 4.8 VPN client and either Trend PeniClin 14
or the Verizon software they installed. The client told me that Verizon
Support is refusing any type of assistance in resolving the issue as "VPN is
not supported by Verizon at this time" I wonder how long it will take for
that to spread. The location is South Central Florida.
