I want to know how I find out if I have this type of
modem on my computer??

I know I have a Lucent Win Modem, but that is all the
info I can find in my system.

I updated my driver to 8.28.0.0 (Microsoft).

I am trying to have my system recognize incoming calls so
I can put my modem on hold!!

PLEASE HELP!!

Thanks, Chris

Goto:

"C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\MSInfo\msinfo32.exe"

and select "Components" and then "Modem." This should give you all the info
that Microsoft keeps on your modem.

In Control Panel, open Phone and Modem Options. Click the Modems tab. Make
sure your modem is selected in the list. Click the Properties button in
lower right corner of window. Click the Diagnostics tab. Click the Query
Modem button and look through the list of commands and responses. Somewhere
in that list (mine's listed as ATI5) you'll see the capability of your modem
either V.90 or V.92. I believe the MS driver only gives V.90 compatibility.
There's a version which supports V.92 at
http://www.modem-drivers.com/drivers/85/85965.htm. Registration is free.
