Using active sync w/ connector for IBM

I am running Outlook 2003 w/ the IBM connector and everything works
perfectly. The problem arrises when I sync my PDA using active sync. When I
do this, all of my calendar items are duplicated - both in Outlook and on the
domino server. Are there any known issues with syncing a hand-held device
with Outllook when the IBM connector is being used?
 
I'm not using the connector myself but I can imagine that when both Outlook
and the PDA already contains the calendar (synched previously or by other
means) and you synch for the first time with a new ActiveSync profile that
you end up with dupliates.

For an initial synch I usually clear the contents of one device and then
force it to synch from the other device. For example; I cleared my phone and
synched it from desktop to phone for the first time. Then later I set it to
synch both ways.
