User's password not accepted

Amir M.

Hi,

Our clients are Win XP Pro.

Just recently one of the users in our company, when trying
to log in to the domain, her password is not accepted.
Her password has always been permanent. She can log in
without typing her password. It's as if her password has
been reset to blank password. But, no one has reset her
password. Any idea why this has happened?

Thanks

Clearly it has been, as her password is currently blank.

Someone has, or she has.

You'd need to have enabled auditing beforehand. Make sure you set up
policies to force complex passwords & regular pw changes - for all users.

How do you know that noone has changed her password ? Maybe she did ?
Passwords are not reset automaticaly. Is she permited to reset the passwrod
on her account ?

Someone, somehow reset it. You can use " net user username" on the domain
controller to find out the exact time it was set. In the future enable
auditing of "account management" in your Domain Controller Security Policy
and you will be able to see the event in the security log in Event Viewer
assuming the security log was not erased which in itself will leave an
event. It would be a good idea to check membership in the administrator
groups for the domain and change administrator passwords right away since
you have no good explaination. --- Steve
