When trying to open up Windows Mail it randomly asked for my user name and
password. I put in the correct info from when I set up my account and it
won't accept the user name or password. I even went into my account retyped
my user name and password, clicked appy and tried it again. It still will not
accept it! What else can I do???

I am also having the same problem and went to my email provider and was able
to log on with the correct user name and password there, however, it did not
resolve the problem with receiving and sending emails. I still cannot access
my email through the windows mail program, it will not accept the correct log
in information. Someone please help.

This is the message I am still getting when my username/password doesn't
work....

kerrit321, that type of problem is usually caused by interference from
a non-compatible antivirus program. Which antivirus are you running?
As a minimum, email scanning in the antivirus must be turned off,
although that may not be sufficient to eliminate all bad effects.
In a worst case scenario, your antivirus may need to be uninstalled.

One thing you should try as a possible quick fix is to delete that
corrupted mail account, restart Windows Mail, then recreate that
account.

If no improvement, consider upgrading to Windows Live Mail,
because it is less prone to suffering bad effects from overly
intrusive antivirus programs: http://get.live.com/wlmail/overview

Email scanning in any antivirus must be disabled, for reasons
explained here:

Gary,
I use the ESET NOD32 Antivirus, I have already disabled the email protection
but that hasn't solved the problem with it continuing to ask for my username
and password. I also deleted the corrupted email and created a new one and
the problem still exist. If I were to switch to Windows live, would I be able
to keep the same email address? Does it cost anything?

Windows Live Mail is free, and it will automatically import your
existing Windows Mail accounts, settings, and emails. The switch is
so easy that you won't have to do anything besides download and run
the installer.

I have installed and started Windows Live and it continues to ask for my
username and password. It will not accept it! The following error message
pops up.....

Unable to send or receive messages for the pop.txbestinsagent.com account.
An incorrect e-mail user name was entered. The next time you send or receive
messages, you'll be asked to enter your user name and password for this
account.

Server Error: 0x800CCC90
Server Response: -ERR Try Again
Server: 'pop.txbestinsagent.com'
Windows Live Mail Error ID: 0x800CCC91
Protocol: POP3
Port: 110
Secure(SSL): No

Please, let me know what to do because I NEED this email to work ASAP! Is
there a number I can call for technical assistance so I can speak to
someone???

pop.txbestinsagent.com is hosted by a web hosting service.
I can't find their email setup instructions online. If you need
immediate support, call your web hosting service. This does not
appear to be an email program issue. Make sure you are following
the email setup instructions given by your hosting service, such as
using your complete email address for the username.

I have contacted my web hosting service and actually found out a payment
didn't go through so they had deactivated the email account until the amount
was paid. Just found this out so I will get this done and hopefully this will
solve all problems! :)

Saying you have "the same problem" is not very helpful.
Do you get an error message? If so, right-click on your error
message, copy, then paste it into a reply here.
We can't do much troubleshooting without the complete error message.
