Userinit.exe Prevents Logon after Upgrade From Win 98SE

I spent most of the day today trying to upgrade to XP. At last it was
complete. As it booted I was told to enter the users names. I then clicked on
my name and the following error message appeared:

userinit.exe - no disk

Insert disk into drive \Device\Harddisk3\DR6

This message cannot be deleted and XP does not complete boot sequence.

I tried ctrl-alt-delete but could not shut down the message.

Thanks for your help,
Dale

Update: I have discovered that if I click on "cancel" 50-60 times the error
message disappears and XP works properly. Does this help?
