Can anyone tell me how you can change the default
username
from "a" to whatever I require??

If I click on start and log off...it has my right name
there,
however when I press ctrl+alt+del the user name there
comes up as "a"...how can I change that to my name??

I have gone to control panel to
change the username, however the username THERE is
right!!

Any suggestions on how to change this???...thanks!

Thanks
Shaz

If you mean that you want the system to automatically boot to a specific
user account:

Download the Microsoft Powertoy TweakUI for Windows XP at:

http://www.microsoft.com/WINDOWSXP/pro/downloads/powertoys.asp

Save the file TweakUI.exe to a folder. After downloading it, open
Windows Explorer or My Computer, and navigate to the folder with that
file, double click the file, which will install TweakUI for Windows XP.

After TweakUI for Windows XP is installed, it can be accessed by
clicking Start/All Programs/Powertoys for Windows XP/TweakUI for Windows XP.
With TweakUI open, look at the left pane, where it says: Logon; Click the
+ to the left of Logon, which will expand the sub-entries under that
heading. Click Autologon, and in the right pane you'll see the option: Log
on automatically at system startup, click to put a checkmark in the box for
that option. Type the account name (and password if there is one) for the
user that you want to logon by default. There's a description of Autologon
beneath the boxes in that
right pane. Then click the Apply and OK buttons.

Hi,

Go to Start/Run and type in: control userpasswords
Click on the user name in question, change my name.

If this is what you have already tried, when you hit CAD, is this for the
W2K style logoff or Task Manager/Users logoff where your name is misspelled?

The logoff via the Start Menu settings are located in a different area.
Send me a screenshot via email if necessary.
