Use Laptop TFT as dual monitor for desktop computer

Hello!

is there any way to use my Thinkpad T43 laptop's tft screen as an
additional monitor for my desktop pc? Just like a dual monitor setup
but without the need to purchase a 2nd vga card and an extra monitor? I
would rather like to use the perfect laptop display while working on my
desktop box at home.

Actually this would require a VGA video input but afaik this is not
available. Perhaps there is a software solution? VNC can transmit
desktop contents via LAN but is no help here. I would need an extended
screen...

Any help would be fine.

Thanks for the suggestion, Joel. But the hardware would not allow me to
extend the desktop pc's screen to the laptop. A kvm switch rather
allows to share mouse and keyboard.

Meanwhile I found a clever solution: http://www.maxivista.com

Blurb: "MaxiVista turns any spare PC into an extra monitor for your
primary
PC. No extra hardware required. You can seamlessly extend program
windows across multiple screens like it would be a single big monitor.
Increase your productivity now by using multiple monitors."

This is funny: As an additional feature it *also* allows sharing the
desktop pc keyboard and mouse with the laptop. So i can control both
computers from the desktop pc. Nice, and more than i wanted.

PS: Sorry for my posting doublette. The client hung.

Maxivista is a software which sends the "extended" desktop over the LAN. This
is the only way you can you a laptop LCD as a second display, without
disassembling the laptop or get a laptop which have a VGA IN port.

Windows Remote Desktop would work for this, but there is a learning curve. I
don't know if you have s-video capability on your desktop, but you could try
this:

You are going to have to spend money no matter what you try though.

Posts like this always seem to end up talking about that 3rd party software
(I forget the name) that pretty much does what Remote Desktop does. It is
almost like they start a post like this to get around the spam accusation.
