"Use Blank" about:blank

Microsoft Internet Explorer
Under tools/Internet options there are three buttons that
allow you to change your home page. How do I find where
the info is stored to change where the "Use Blank" button
actually takes you on the internet? I had/still have
issues with pests (CWS in particular). I've used a dozen
different programs suggested by this newsgroup to get rid
of them. There is still one that keeps returning everytime
I launch my browser. It always changes my home address
to "About:Blank" and sends me to a search engine. At
least, if I can change the destination of the "Use Blank"
button this won't be so annoying.

Thanks

The thing about 'about:blank' is that it *ought* not to take you
anywhere - it is just a local registry reference aimed at leaving
nothing in the window, so you can then choose for yourself without
wasting time opening some complex Home Page.

But there are some spyware things that have hijacked it. It is
suggested that instead of about:blank you type in the explicit
about:mozilla in the setting pane. That ought to give a plain blue
screen, or at worst a plain window saying mozilla. Then visit
http://www.aumha.org/a/parasite.htm
and use the checks on spyware linked from it
