USB problem

Windows Explorer will no longer show all of the songs from my MP3
player and also will not show all of the directories/pictures on my SD
camera card. The SD card shows everything if I put it in a card
reader, but not from the camera. The reader will show up as a USB icon
in the systray, but the camera does not.
I feel it is in XP since it is affecting two different things. Could
it be a type of "service" that might be disabled? Is it a USB problem?
When I connect the camera, the USB icon shows up in the systray for
a second or two then disappears. Windows Explorer shows the camera,
but not as a removable drive, like the card reader does.

Thanks , Bob

I'm not clear on your instruction. My problem is that when I put the
SD card in a card reader, it shows up in Device Manager as an external
drive F, and there is a USB icon in the systray. But, when I put the
same card in my camera, it shows up in device manager, BUT, not as a
USB drive F just as a sorta dim camera folder icon, and I cannot see
all of the pictures and folders on the card as I can see when it is in
the card reader. Also, in camera mode, the USB systray icon appears
for a second or two then disappears.
