USB problem on XP

When I try to connect my webcam to my pc, the device
cannot be found. Xp doesn't seem to recognise any new
device?
If someone could help, I would greatly appreciate it.

did you try any other usb device....first check this...
did you look in device manager....for the usb devices...(do you see the usb
device) ....you might wanna uninstall and let the computer recognize the usb
device after a restart
you can uninstall anything...the computer will recognize new hardware and
install the appropriate driver for it.
do you have latest version of the driver for the webcam

Would you like to enlighten this thread further.. I would hate for the OP to
be wasting her time.. I have to admit that I have not come across a USB
device that doesn't require drivers and software installed first.. I await
the any information that would enable me to give better advice next time..
