USB MASS STORAGE DEVICE not showing in mycomputer

Hi. I have a 20gm mp3 payer. (archos gmini 400). It is plug and play, i have
connected it to another windows xp computer and it has shown as an extra
drive no problems. However. With the computer i would like to use it with it
does not show up in my computer. It shows as usb device in device manager
under other devices. I have tried pressing update driver, which ran
sucessfuly, but i should not have to be doing this in the first place.
Updating the driver changes it to a USB Mass storage device under universal
serial bus controllers and Toshiba MK2004GAL USB Device under disk drives.
(device manager still). However no sign of new drive in device
manager/explorer allowing me to read write and copy files!

Any help much appreciated!

Ditto, I'm having the same problem with a Dell 128mb USB storage device. It
is recognized and shows as working correctly in device manager, but does not
show up as a drive in My Computer. I do get a message when it is first
plugged in that "This device can perfom faster if connected to a high speed
USB 2.0 port"

Any suggestions on how I can use this device? Driver search shows that I
have an up-to-date driver.

My USB drives were showing up either, I tried the following and it works
fine now -
My Computer, Manage, Disk Management - assign a drive letter
hope it works for you!

Any ideas as to how to get Windows XP to display the drives that are
connected either via USB (DVD writer and Thumb drive) or cable (ZIP drive)?

Thanks
