USB 2.0 port charges mp3 player/recorder internal battery

I'm supposed to get 10 hours of mp3 playback on one charge, yet when I record
using the line-in function, I get only about 2.5 hours of recording time before
the battery is wound down. Is there any wall outlet charger that supplies the
power of USB 2.0 ports for these portable devices?

The mp3 unit instructions says not to plug it into a hub, but plug it directly
into the computer USB 2.0 ports.

Right now, the player is charging on my 98SE machine yet it isn't recognized as
a device in Device Manager or My Computer. Maybe after it finishes charging, it
will let me install the device drivers for 98SE from a floppy.

Rechargeable batteries need to be cycled several full
charges and full discharges before they reach full capacity.
Also, a powered hub should work just fine, but a non-powered
hub won't supply enough power to charge the batteries
Laptop computer may or may not supply adequate power.

Check the site www.cyberguys.com , they carry a lot of USB
cables and other devices at very reasonable prices.
