USB 2.0 port charges mp3 player/recorder internal battery

I'm supposed to get 10 hours of mp3 playback on one charge, yet when I record
using the line-in function, I get only about 2.5 hours of recording time before
the battery is wound down. Is there any wall outlet charger that supplies the
power of USB 2.0 ports for these portable devices?

Contact the manufacturer of the device.
It just may be the re-chargeable batteries life is degrading and it needs replacement.

I just got the unit new last week. It is my newfound belief that recording
drains the battery 3 to 4 times faster than merely playing back files. But I
haven't been around the block enough times to know.
