Uploading Photos To The Web - Explorer Issue

Guest

I've previously used the option to upload photos to the web many times by
opening the folder in explorer and then hitting the files and folders tasks
to transfer them. But suddenly this doesn't work anymore and I have no idea
why. I used to be able to click the "x" to get the files & folders menu to
appear. Now when I hit the "x" it only closes the folders on the left side of
the screen. Any advice is highly appreciated.

Try the following:
Click on Start and click on Run and type in the following (or copy and
paste) in the textbox:
REGSVR32 SHIMGVW.DLL
and press Enter.
Note that there is a space between ...32 and SHI...

I tried and it said "dllregisterserver in shimgvw.dll succeeded". But it
makes no difference as far as the uploading issue.

This is the best I can offer. I have never done this uploading and there was
a possibility that you had lost the image file association with XP functions
so this would have repaired it. You did get the correct message, but
obviously something else is wrong. I hope somebody else comes along with the
solution.

I never heard of the File and Folder Task but I checked the help function in
Windows Explorer and it says
"Click the Close button in the right corner of the Folders list ". I did
this on my computer and nothing happened except that the folder list closed.
So I guess I have the same problem.

Yes... exactly what Tom just said is what is happening. But previously when I
would hit that x I would get a new menu on the left side that gave me the
option of uploading photos to the web. (I never knew that File & Folder Tasks
was what that particular menu was called... but I got the name of it from
Microsoft help)

So there isn't a solution yet... if anyone else has ideas.

Open the folder where the pictures are.
Select the pictures (highlight in blue) you want to upload.
Look at the menu on the left, under File and Folder tasks and click on
Upload... The upload wizard will start.
If you do not see the File and folder tasks, look at your top bar. There
will be a yellow icon with the name Folders under it. Click on it. This
should bring the File and Folder tasks menu.

I know these are the normal directions but they do not work for me... it used
to work but it doesn't anymore... that is what the issue is.

I cannot get the file and folder tasks menu to appear. When I click on the x
or click on the file folder icon it only closes the folder.... it doesn't
bring up the files and folders menu anymore.

This doesn't work for me either. When I click on the Yellow Icon with
Folders in it, it just opens another window with the files and folders in it
(the same info that is in the right side of the windows explorer window).

On your top bar, click on Tools and then Folder options.
A window will open, click on "Show common tasks in folders" button and click
on Apply. This will take a minute to run. Then click on your (x) or the
yellow icon with Folders written under it, You should now get File and
Folder tasks.

That fixed it on my computer. Thanks.
