Picture upload scrambling problems

I am having problems when uploading some phootos on my pc. I have a HP using
Vista and when I upload photos, some of them ocassionally get scrambled in
the upload. I have tried a different camera, card, cord and everything
possible but nothing works. I have tried a USB flash drive with the same
results. It will take a photo and scramble or switch the left and right side
on just the bottom half of the pic. When I re-upload the same photos, it will
then upload the same pic just fine but will scramble others.

Are you using third party software? btw this is newsgroup for Windows XP.

I use the Canon software, but I have uninstalled and reinstalled it with no
luck. When I use the USB flash drive, it does not go through the Canon
software. I just realized this is for XP, but I was so happy to find a place
that I could ask this question, I overlooked that. Any help you or anyone
else could give would be greatly appreciated.
